Social Media, Politics and Baby Boomers

Social Media is obviously playing a big role in politics throughout the world, as poignantly demonstrated in the recent events in the middle east. Good or Bad, the election of Barack Obama would never have happened without strategic use of the Internet, and the next elections direction will play out most influentially on-line.

As I have become involved in social media, dabbling a little in political blogs and Twitter accounts, I now see some clear and alarming trends emerge for Baby Boomers.  If we don't engage in the medium, this new, preferred and advantaged medium will be dominated and skewed toward younger, generally more liberal, competing, and unsympathetic demographics.

At a time when many of the crucial issues of the day create direct conflicts with the financial interests of our generation, it is crucial for Baby Boomers to get on-line, learn some basics and engage politically in Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Etc. Failure to learn the new tools of dialogue may allow  our numbers and important issues to be set aside or disregarded.  Help a friend or relative set up some accounts Today!
